Day 1 BOARD YOUR OVERNIGHT TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT.
Day 2 ARRIVE IN LONDON, ENGLAND. at London
Upon arrival, you are transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax or begin exploring Britain's capital.
Day 3 LONDON. at London
A full day free to discover London at your own pace. There are outstanding museums, first-rate shopping, and, of course, numerous historic buildings, monuments and much more to fill your time. (B)
Day 4 LONDON / SALISBURY / STONEHENGE / PLYMOUTH. at Plymouth
Meet your Tour Director and depart London this morning, heading to Salisbury. Stop to view the 750-year-old cathedral. Continue on to Stonehenge to see the mysterious circle of monoliths. Then to the port city of Plymouth, home of Sir Francis Drake. (CB,D)
Day 5 CORNWALL EXCURSION. at Plymouth
Journey into Cornwall to the seaside town of Marazion. Stop for a look across the water at St. Michael’s Mount, a stunning rocky island crowned by a castle. Then on through Penzance to quaint St. Ives. Return to Plymouth via the Moors. (B)
Day 6 PLYMOUTH / BATH / COTSWOLDS. at Cotswolds
Your first stop this morning is Glastonbury to view Glastonbury Tor, the sacred hill associated with the legend of King Arthur. Then on to Bristol to see the Clifton Suspension Bridge. After views of the Georgian city of Bath, continue on to the Cotswolds. (B,D)
Day 7 COTSWOLDS / CHESTER. at Chester
Head north into the Malvern Hills and on for a visit to the Wedgwood Factory at Stoke-on-Trent (when open). Then, continue to the historic town of Chester. Here, see the ancient Roman Walls and the quaint galleried walkways known as “the Rows.” (B,D)
Day 8 CHESTER / EDINBURGH. at Edinburgh
Travel through the beautiful Lake District to Grasmere, home of the poet William Wordsworth. Continuing north, cross the border into Scotland at Gretna Green, where runaway lovers fled to elope. Arriving in Edinburgh, your evening is at leisure. (B)
Day 9 EDINBURGH. at Edinburgh
This morning, a sightseeing tour highlights imposing Edinburgh Castle and the elegant New Town. The remainder of the day is free. Perhaps take a stroll down the Royal Mile or shop for tartans in Princes Street. (B)
Day 10 EDINBURGH / LEEDS. at Leeds
Head south, driving past the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey. Cross back into England and see Hadrian’s Wall, Northumberland National Park and Durham Cathedral on the way to York. Have your camera ready for spectacular York Minster and the narrow cobbled street called “The Shambles.” Then on to the city of Leeds. (B,D)
Day 11 LEEDS / LONDON. at London
Pass Sherwood Forest, of Robin Hood fame, on the way to Cambridge. Stop to see Kings College before returning to London. The balance of the day is free. (B)
