This morning your private driver/guide will take you to visit Stirling Castle, one of the most historically significant castles in all of Scotland. Dating back to the early 12th century, the castle is an architectural masterpiece most often associated with William Wallace (Braveheart) and Robert the Bruce. Costumed characters bring history to life, and children can visit the palace vaults to dress in medieval garb and try their hands at playing Renaissance-era instruments. Return to Edinburgh for a private underground tour to explore the city’s dark past and biggest secrets on Edinburgh’s only preserved 17th century street. Travel back 400 years in time as your guide leads you down into a warren of streets, rooms, and spaces located beneath the Royal Mile, offering a unique glimpse of the people who lived, worked, and died here. Get close up with the sheep and dog to see and feel how the three-way communication works between them. Continue to 700-year-old Dalhousie Castle for a Falconry experience you will never forget. Watch as your bird flies free from perches and trees, often following you wherever you walk, then swooping back onto your awaiting fist when called. This afternoon, climb aboard a Land Rover with your kilted Safari Ranger and journey through a land steeped in history, culture, nature, and breathtaking views. Use the provided binoculars to spot red deer, grouse, mountain hare, or golden eagles as you travel through forests, mountains, and moors on private hill tracks. This morning, relive one of Scotland’s most famous battles at Culloden Battlefield. A local guide will lead you to the site of one of the most harrowing battles in British history – the 1745 Jacobite Rising. Stand on the windswept moor where the Jacobites made their final stand, admire artifacts from the battle, and experience the Battle of Culloden in the visitor center’s interactive display. Visit nearby pre-historic Clava Cairns, a well-preserved Bronze Age cemetery complex of passage graves, ring cairns, kerb cairns and standing stones in a beautiful setting. (“Outlander” fans will recognize Clava Cairn as the portal through which its main characters time travel.) If time allows, stop at Cawdor Castle, an ancient medieval tower constructed around the legendary holly tree, built and inhabited by the Cawdor family for over 600 years.
