Day 01 Depart for Cardiff

Enjoy the flight from your home country to Cardiff, Wales (usually an overnight flight). To make your travel planning even easier, ask us about including airfare and travel insurance in your travel package.

Day 02 Welcome to Wales

Upon landing in Cardiff, you will be greeted at the airport by your driver guide. Before making your way to the hotel, first tour this charming capital city and become better acquainted with your surroundings. Overnight in a 5-star Cardiff hotel that offers sweeping views over the bay.

Day 03 An Introduction to Welsh Cuisine

After breakfast (included daily) you’ll quickly be immersed in Welsh culture with a private tasting tour around the city to sample a variety of Welsh foods as you visit specialist producers, cafes, retailers and the Cardiff indoor market. Along the way you’ll receive a unique tour of the city’s architecture, history and people. Spend the afternoon at leisure further exploring the city on your own. You might like to visit Cardiff Castle or do some shopping (as the city is a top shopping destination in Britain). Unwind at the end of your day with a spa treatment of your choice and a Two Course Dinner, all located within your luxurious hotel. Overnight again in your same Cardiff hotel.

Day 04 Castles and a Coal Mine

Travel outside the bustling city with your driver guide to explore historic sites and learn more about Welsh life and culture. Your local expert will meet at your hotel and introduce you to more of Wales’ fascinating past and present. Begin at Castle Coch, perched on a forest covered hillside with fairy-tale towers peaking above the trees. Originally built to protect Cardiff, Britain’s richest aristocrat had it restored as a summer home that now boasts ornately designed rooms. Next, it’s on to Caerphilly Castle to see how the overlords of Wales once lived, and discover why they needed to make it look so imposing just to keep the locals in order. Now that you have visited two of Wales over 600 castles, it’s time to discover why mining was so important to the country. At the Welsh Mining Experience receive an underground tour in a former coal mine to learn the process of mining. Return to Cardiff and overnight in your same bayside hotel.

Day 05 From Coast to Countryside

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and pick up your rental vehicle for a scenic drive along the coast, passing gorgeous bays and historical ruins of castles, abbeys and monoliths. Visit Slade Garden and Farm for a tour of the organic farming operations and to see the resident pigs, sheep and cows. Afterwards, relax with homemade cakes and tea in the beautiful nine-acre garden that offers amazing views of Dunraven Bay. As you continue, there will be numerous opportunities to stop and explore the sites, and we will provide a list of suggestions based on your preferences. Overnight in a 5-star luxury country house hotel nestled in the heart of the rolling Pembrokeshire countryside.

Day 06 Pembrokeshire Safari Tour

Today, embark on a unique private tour of the Pembrokeshire area in a Land Rover driven by your local guide. Throughout the day your local expert will have you exploring historically important locations and hidden gems. Following the breathtaking coastline on rural roads you will see such sites as the walled city of Tenby, Manorbier Castle ruins, St. Govan’s Chapel, beautiful beaches and glorious bays. You will also sample Welsh food and learn interesting local facts. You might even pick up a little Welsh language since you will hear plenty of people using it as they go about their daily lives. Overnight at your same country house hotel.

Day 07 Falconry: Close Encounter with Birds of Prey

After breakfast, take part in a truly memorable experience learning about and flying birds of prey. During this private falconry encounter, you will be introduced to hawks, owls and eagles. From the moment you arrive, you will be immersed in a hands-on experience where you will witness the birds’ speed and agility as they fly through the air and land on your gloved hand. Afterwards, enjoy some refreshments while you chat with your falconer. In the afternoon, take a guided tour of Pembroke Castle, the birthplace of King Henry VII and the Tudor Dynasty. Spend the rest of the day at leisure exploring more of the Pembrokeshire area. You might like to see the Welsh tradition of lovespoon carving first-hand as you watch craftsman give a working demonstration. This evening, enjoy a relaxing multi-course tasting dinner while relishing the breathtaking coastal views at a seaside restaurant. Overnight at the same luxury hotel.

Day 08 Travel to Northern Wales

This morning, check out of your hotel and drive North as you hug the coastline then pass wide open fields, ancient woodland and rugged mountain scenery. Your journey today allows time to encounter more of Wales’ charming villages and amazing landscape. As you pass Cardigan Bay, you might like to stop at the sea-side town of Aberystwyth to be greeted by Wales’ famous pastel-colored harborside cottages. Take a moment to walk the promenade, browse local boutiques, and soak in that amazing coastline. Continue on through the breathtaking Snowdonia National Park which consists of mountains, valleys and over 100 glacial lakes. If you would like to see more of Wales’ castles, abbeys and other historical sites, there are plenty to discover along the way. As you approach Wale’s northern tip, overnight at a 5-star country house located on a sprawling 200-acre parkland that overlooks Snowdonia Mountain.

Day 09 Snowdonia by Train and Horse

After breakfast, drive to the base of Snowdon for a ride on the lovely Snowdonia Mountain Railway. Your train car will make the slow five-mile journey up the mountainside to the summit of Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales. At the top you can exit the train to take in the breathtaking views over Snowdonia National Park and get a refreshment before descending back down the peak. For lunch, head into the seaside town of Caernarfon, and if time allows, take a tour of Caernarfon Castle. Afterwards, explore the Snowdonia countryside on a relaxed horse ride while you learn more about this amazing and beautiful area. This evening, enjoy a multi-course fine dining experience within your hotel’s 3 AA Rosette restaurant. Overnight again at your same luxury hotel.

Day 10 Conwy and Afternoon Tea

This morning, drive to the charming harbor town of Conwy. Here you will meet your local private guide for a tour to include Conwy Castle, the downtown area, a visit to the smallest house in Britain and a climb on the town walls to get a great view of the area. Along your walk you will also have the opportunity to try local foods such as their outstanding fresh seafood. After returning your rental vehicle this afternoon, experience a traditional Afternoon Tea served at your hotel. Included will be a selection of finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, cakes and pastries along with tea and champagne. Afterwards, enjoy exploring your hotel’s extensive landscape and stroll through the immaculate gardens or take one of the numerous woodland walks. Perhaps you would like to end the evening with a relaxing treatment at the onsite spa. Overnight again at your same hotel.

Day 11 A Cross-Country Flight

After a leisurely breakfast, check out of your hotel and make your way to the onsite helipad. As your Wales vacation approaches the end, you have one final experience to celebrate your amazing trip. Board a private helicopter for a memorable and scenic flight across the country and back to Cardiff. Spend your final night in a 5-star hotel.
